This year 145 marching bands across the country performed his music, 22 of which performed brand new commissions. His shows have competed at all levels of BOA, USBands, Tournament of Bands, Cavalcade of Bands and Texas UIL. To date, Jeff has composed and arranged over 130 new marching band shows and has received national recognition as a prominent and emerging marching arts designer. In August of 2018, Jeff served as a music assistant to a new musical called, "Once Upon a Rhyme” shortly before it was produced at New York University. After covid-19 stalled the project in many ways, the show has since picked up momentum being a top 20 pick for the 2021 NAMT festival, and participating in two one week residencies in New York City in 2021 and Fire Island, New York in 2022. The music of their new work debuted at The Green Room 42 in New York City on Octoand headlined the New York Theater Barn's New Works Series on December 2, 2019. In 2017, he began composing and orchestrating music with Jesse Sanchez for a new musical, “SUEÑOS: Our American Musical". He continues to compose original scores for films and various projects in Seattle, Washington. His scores are frequently heard in film festivals around the world including one of his more recent projects, "Crowbar" which has screened at dozens of film festivals internationally and has received numerous awards and accolades. In 20 he was the recipient of the "Best Score" award in the Seattle 48 Hour Horror Film Festival for his original scores, "Wild Roses" and "The Recursive Haunting of Abel Street". In 2016 he received the bronze medal in the Seattle Composers Alliance international call for scores with his string quartet, "Whitewater". Maintaining a diverse musical palette outside of the marching arts has always been important to Jeff. His music is frequently noted as fresh and exciting and in 2013, one of his arrangements was recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine as a "Mind-Blowing Cover". He specializes in pageantry music, musical theatre and music for film and media while constantly expanding to other genres. He studied composition with Dan Bukvich and Robert Dickow at the University of Idaho and upon graduating, immediately made a full-time career in music composition and arranging.
